We know how important it is for your voice to be heard.

Have your say in the largest survey of its kind in the East Midlands.

Following last year’s success, young professionals in the East Midlands are invited to participate in a survey aimed at enhancing their development opportunities. The Generation Next network of the East Midlands Chamber has initiated this study to gain a deeper understanding of the aspirations and support needs of young people.

The survey findings will help improve the network, which aids 18 to 35-year-olds in the region by developing their skills, offering mentoring opportunities, expanding their networks, and recognising their achievements through an annual awards program. With only about a third of graduates from the region’s six universities remaining in the East Midlands after graduation, Generation Next also aims to retain more young talent in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire.

Backed by the Generation Next board of champions, the network strives to create better business and learning opportunities tailored to young workers’ needs through skills-based and social events, a mentoring scheme, and a document library.

Additionally, the survey will amplify the voices of young professionals within the East Midlands Chamber’s network of over 4,000 members, providing regional employers with insights into the motivations behind early career choices, enabling them to create a more conducive environment for young talent.

The findings will be presented at Generation Next’s conference in January 2025. Lucy Robinson, East Midlands Chamber director of resources and Generation Next lead, stated, “The insights from this survey will be crucial in helping the Chamber and regional employers address the needs and values of our young workforce, creating opportunities to help them build their futures in the East Midlands. We look forward to seeing the results and using this insight to shape our 2025 events program for our members.”
